 Egyptian Day

By Anton 3Y

On Egyptian day two people came to our school and told us all about Ancient Egypt.

We dressed up in robes and then put head dresses on.

Wearing a costume was fun because we felt like real Egyptians.

Once we dressed up the lady took us into the hall and we each read out a little bit of Ancient Egyptian history.

After break we all played the first board game made in Egypt.

It was fun because Ben and I kept landing on each other so we had to go back to the start.

My favourite part of the day was when we read the hieroglyphics and then worked them out in English.

Year 3 Egyptian Day

By Ellena 3Y

When I got to school I found an Egyptian costume on my table, next to it was a piece of blue paper. I put the orangey brown tunic on, then I put the burgundy collar on and the fluffy green headband.

After that I sat down and a lady came into my class. A few minutes later some of my friends out of a different class came in. The lady introduced herself and told us a bit about the afterlife. When she'd finished talking Mrs Yates took me and some other classmates upstairs to collect some instruments. We took them downstairs and went back to class.

After that we went to the hall, it was decorated with pictures of Ra, Anubis and Horus. First we talked about Rameses and then we weighed Rameses' heart with the Feather of Truth. Fortunately Rameses' heart was lighter than the feather so Rameses got to go to the afterlife. Then we played our instruments. When we weighed Queen Hatshepsut's heart that was also lighter than the feather so she went to the afterlife. But when we weighed Amenhotep's heart it was heavier than the feather so Ammit the part hippo, crocodile and human had to eat his heart.

After break we made some paper pyramids then played Snake, Senet and Scarab.

Then we had lunch and after that we looked at some Egyptian photos. After last break we were split into three groups and first my group had to write in hieroglyphics writing, then I had to draw some special artefacts, then measure our friends and the hall the way the Egyptians used to measure.

My favourite part was looking at the photos.
